What is the aim of the new control panel?
Firstly let's recap on why we have moved you to our new control panel. Gradwell has been a hosting company for a little over 18 years now, and while we are recognised largely for our VoIP products, hosting was always at the core of our company.
Despite this, our hosting products and platform have aged and three years ago we made a significant investment in a completely new Cloud platform. Our new hosting platform 'Gradwell Cloud' has been vigorously tested and enables us to offer a superior product suite.
We initially planned to move your account and all associated data to the new platform ourselves, but it transpired there was no way for us to do this without impacting a large number of our customers websites. As such we have had a plugin created within our new platform that has enabled us to migrate your account details, domains and DNS in to the new control panel whilst allowing you to view your data, which remains stored on our legacy servers.
As a result, you are now taking advantage of our new control panel, but your data is still currently on the legacy servers. Whilst this is a significant step, ultimately we want to get you fully on to our new platform as soon as possible.
Where does your account currently sit?
Now you are on the new control panel, your account details, domains, DNS and billing are now handled on the new Gradwell Cloud platform.
The Control Panel gives you access to view your Email/Web hosting details. Your data however is not on the new platform. Your data still resides on the Legacy servers.
You will also have limited functionality, you can view your data but there is no way of adding anything new. No new websites, email accounts etc. The table below shows features that are unavailable.
|Spam Filtering||Non configurable|
|New Mailbox||Not available|
|Web Hosting||New Website||Not available|
|Web Hosting||Add/Update/Remove Re-direct||Non configurable|
|Web Hosting||New FTP User||Not available|
|SMTP||New User||Not available|
|SMTP||View usage||Not available|
|SMTP by IP||Configuring IP address details||Non configurable|
So what's next?
Firstly it is important that you have your payment mandates set up. If you haven't done this already then please check the following guide which can talk you through this: Adding a Payment Mandate/Paying an Invoice
Whilst there are a number of features that are no longer available on the legacy services, you are able to move to a new Gradwell Cloud package. These packages are generally vastly more competitive and come with some very new and exciting features.
Once you have chosen a suitable package on the new platform, it is time to set up your new services.
- To start with your email accounts, any forwarding rules, web space etc needs to be set up
- If you have a website to move over, an ftp user will need to be created on the new account
- Data will need to be migrated, for websites you will need to download the relevant files from your legacy server and re-upload to the new webspace. Email data will need to be exported/downloaded and re-imported to your new mailbox
- Once you are happy we can proceed with closing down your legacy hosting services
